winter wellness guide: consistency over motivation

As the days get shorter and the nights draw in, it’s completely natural to feel your motivation dip. The darker months can make it harder to get up early, to move your body, or to keep up the hard-won routines that felt effortless in the summer.

At The Good Rooms we remind our community that it’s consistency that can keep us grounded through the winter.

Motivation Comes and Goes – Consistency Stays

Motivation is like sunshine: bright, energising, but often fleeting. Consistency, on the other hand, is like the steady warmth of a candle – small but unwavering. The key to feeling good this season is less about forcing yourself to feel motivated; it’s showing up even when you don’t. It’s the small, steady actions that can make a big difference.

Create a Winter Routine That Feels Good

Instead of aiming for a perfect routine, shift focus to maintaining your rhythm – two or three classes a week might feel better – and more sustainable – than five. Choose movement that lifts your mood – our more dynamic classes and community energy can help you shake off the grey days. Motivation can also thrive when we’re feeling rested – consider adding slower practices into your week too like (Warm) Yin and Gong Deep Relaxation, Reset, or Bliss.

Sharing your practice with others builds accountability and joy. A friendly face in class can be all the spark you need to keep going. Remember, when you recommend our Intro Offer to a friend, you’ll both get more yoga and Pilates for less with our new referral scheme.
